About NDIS Respite/Short Term Accommodation Providers in Australia

Short-term accommodation (STA), often called respite, is a short stay away from home — usually up to 14 days at a time — that includes your accommodation, care and activities, and gives you and your carers a break. STA is funded from the Core – Assistance with Daily Life budget.

Before you choose a provider, check whether they are registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, ask about wait times and whether they can visit you at home, and confirm which support items they will claim. You can compare their rates against the current price limits in our free NDIS Price Guide.

If your NDIS plan is agency-managed (NDIA-managed), you must use registered providers. If your plan is self-managed or plan-managed, you can also use unregistered providers, as long as the support is in your plan.
